Pune Municipal Corporation has ordered a fresh survey of old wadas and ageing buildings across the city after recent rain-related collapses raised safety concerns in several central areas.
The action follows structural incidents reported during heavy rain, including collapses in Somwar Peth and nearby parts of the old city, prompting the civic body to review vulnerable properties.
Officials said buildings found to be dangerous during the survey could face urgent demolition or evacuation measures. In some cases, police assistance may be sought to clear occupants from unsafe premises.
The survey is part of a wider monsoon safety response aimed at preventing further accidents in densely built neighbourhoods where many older structures may have weakened over time.
